Rev. Dr. Mark Irons

Mark is not only the son of a Disciples minister, he is fourth generation Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on both sides of his family.  Mark grew up in Missouri and came to Texas in 1980 to attend college at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.  His education includes coursework in New Zealand, Italy, Israel, and Switzerland (Bossey).  He has a BA in religion studies from TCU, an M.Div. from Brite Divinity School, and a D.Min. from Perkins School of Theology.


His passions include connecting the Biblical story to people’s daily lives, as well as the story of the church in America.  Mark is on the board of the YMCA, active in Rockwall United (a ministers' group), leads the community Emergency Food & Shelter Program, and has served with several other community boards and committees.

Betty Taylor

Betty Taylor was born and raised in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.  She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education, and earned a master’s degree in Organ at the University of Oklahoma. 

She taught school for 27 years in Campbell, Mesquite and Rockwall before retiring.  She is still teaching private piano lessons, as she has done for 50 years.  Over the length of her career as a church accompanist and music director, she has served Seventh Day Adventist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Episcopal, and Disciples of Christ Churches.  She has served here at First Christian Rockwall for 35 years.

Betty has four children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
